THLiving at Trebinshun

Trebinshun House is a special place. It allows corporate leaders and professional people to develop their English language skills as part of a small group within the warm family atmosphere and beautiful surroundings of a historic manor house.

History

A house was first built at Trebinshun in 1588. The Watson family arrived in the 1950s and in 1976 they established their language school here in an area of outstanding beauty within a National Park. Many of the Watson family are still involved with the business, and with the help of a wonderful team of teachers, hosts and domestic staff, the authentic friendly atmosphere and professional excellence of Trebinshun continues today.

Accommodation

Trebinshun House stands in its own small estate and large gardens in a beautiful and very peaceful valley.

All our bedrooms are very comfortable and charmingly decorated to feel more like a private home than a hotel. They each have an en-suite bathroom and are situated in either the main house or our delightful courtyard development.

We also offer the opportunity to stay in one of our luxurious and newly refurbished manor rooms. These all have wonderful views, exceptional bathrooms, king-sized beds and additional space in which to study and relax. They are available at an additional cost of £325 per week.

Extra nights of accommodation, dinner and breakfast without tuition are available at an additional charge of £110 per night for standard rooms and £125 for manor rooms.

We run a complementary in-house laundry service to all clients.

Eating

The excellent quality of our food and carefully chosen wine is always a highlight of any course at Trebinshun House!

To continue the learning experience everyone eats together while speaking English. Our dedicated chef prides himself on the high standard of his cooking, variety of his menus and uses fresh local ingredients where possible.

All meals and wine – from the classic English breakfast to homemade cakes at teatime and candlelit dinners in the evenings – are included in our course prices.

Facilities and Activities

We are blessed to have lovely countryside and dramatic natural scenery on our doorstep. For anyone who enjoys walking, cycling, golf, horse-riding, fishing or other outdoor country pursuits, a visit here will feel like a trip to paradise! We also have a small fitness suite and sauna facility. And if you are a less energetic person, you can visit local historical sites, go shopping or relax in front of our open log fires or play billiards in our snooker room.

Each evening after lessons your host will arrange a variety of social and cultural activities designed to improve your English language skills in informal situations. There is also a weekly guest evening, when you can meet members of the local community or listen to a visiting speaker. On your final day with us, there will be a farewell drink and presentation of certificates.
